EXCEL TIPS - Block 4

Create a comment that explains a tip you have for other students who are learning and using EXCEL.
Here are the guidelines:

Follow the example below to meet the minimum expectation.

Example: Tip - Copy and Paste a cell's formatting only.

  1. Click on the cell you want to copy the Formatting for.
  2. Right click and choose Copy.
  3. Click on the cell(s) you want to copy the formatting to.
  4. Choose Edit - Paste Special from the Standard Tool Bar.
  5. Choose Format Only and OK.

the insert formula is very usefull even if it is not nesisary
 
To add numbers in colums you can use the autosum tool. This button looks like an E. To use this command highlight the cells that you want to add then click on the autosum button, this will add up all the numbers in the highlighted cells
 
Prssing Ctrl + ` will show the formulas on your project.
 
Instead of keying the same formula down the columns, you can use the FILL function to make your life a whole lot easier and it automatically takes the different values from the different rows and applies the formula you keyed in!!!
 
By pressing CTRL+s saves the work you are working on. This makes it safe to work after someone puls the plug on your computer.
 
By pressing the right button on your mouse, you can print paper's and do many other things.
 
to make a colum bigger you dubble click on it
 
an easy way to make all the columns same width:
1. Highlight all the columns that you want the same size.
2. Go to Format, Column, Width.
3. Type the size you want.
4. Press ok.
 
Press Ctrl + F to find or replace a word on your sheet
 
you can change the size of your project to fit on a certain amount of pages by going to :
1.)file
2.)page setup
3.)click on fit to and adjust the amount of pages
4.)then do print preview to make surre its right
 
if you have something consecutive or you want repeated you select the bottum right hand cornor and drag it.
 
i found that the funtion toolbox was very useful, because it ave you a variety of funtions to use to make the project go faster.
 
For an easy way to type in a formula.
1. Choose a formula you want to use.
2. Instead of typing in the cell number, you could click on the cell of information that you are useing.
Example:=Sum(A1+A2) that took time to type... but instead of typing it you could just click cell A1 and then cell A2 and be done with it.
